The Department of Gastro Sciences at KHRC has got a team

services in the areas of treatment of digestive diseases. The department

The Department runs OPD services 7 days a week is an indicator of the
popularity of this department in KHRC. The department provides a complete

This is supported by the most modern Operation Theatre
with ICU, TICU, HDU, well equipped Anesthesia and Critical Care compliments
for management of complex G.I. problems.
The department has been managing emergency surgeries including severe
abdominal injuries (liver, pancreas, vascular) with excellent results. Some
of the other major areas focussed by the department are operation of Liver,
Billiary tract, Pancreas and Luminal surgery from Esophagus to Rectum. The
department's expertise also includes corrective re-operation for surgical
complication.
The highly skilled GI Surgical team has been performing complete range of
G.I. Cancer Surgery with good results. These include Liver vesection,
Radical cholecystectomy, Pancreatic dodenectomy oesophagectomy, colectomies
and sphincter saving operations for cancer rectum and ulcerative colitis.
Cancer surgery is complimented by Medical and Radiation Oncologists. The
department is equipped with the facility for radio frequency ablation,
Chemoport, TACE, Target Chemotherapy, etc.
Advanced Laparoscopic procedure for digestive disease is offered with
availability of harmonic ultrasonic dissector and minimal access surgery
(e.g. Laparoscopic Colorectal, Hiatus Hernia, Ventral Hernia Billiary and
G.I. Bypass and Bowl resection.
The department has been working towards development of Obseity Surgery and
Liver Transplant facilities for the near future.
